Rain is definitely my favorite sushi place in Saint Petersburg (and I have been to most in the city). Fast, courteous service & the sushi is amazing. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!

I love this restaurant. They are always super friendly and the food is always consistently good. Panang curry is my favorite.

Hard to find and scary to look at from the outside but proved to be lovely. The ambiance gets 5 stars and so does the yummy ginger dressing (not cream based for once). We had good service - not great. We had good food and not so great food - my companion's soba noodles were mush but the tofu in the dish was delish! It's fine sushi, nothing to write home about, very affordable and veggie friendly.

Not very nice looking from the outside, but the interior was great, although a bit dark for me. Service was very good, a bit slow, but attentive and helpful. Red curry sauce was amazing - as in lick the plate clean good (perfectly acceptable behavior for bears). Basil duck was tender and moist. Prices "beach" reasonable.

We liked Rain! We drive by it and never notice it, so we figured we would give it a shot. We got 3 rolls, the Call me Sugar, the Hangover and I can't remember the last one. But we weren't sure about the Chocolate Sauce on the one roll, so we got it on the side and the server was fine with that request. It was different but spicy and good!

Sushi was fresh, the inside was clean and the service was delightful. I am a simple gal. I ordered the Jasmine tea and Cali roll. Not fancy on my part but it was delicious. My whole table loved their food. We finished with bananas fried. A perfect way to end a great meal.

I rarely give 5 stars to a restaurant, everything from decor, cleanliness, service, and of course, food has to be great, and it all was. Friends of mine have been telling me how great Rain is and I finally made it, and I should've gone much sooner. Prices are extremely reasonable, almost to a point of cheap, which really surprised me when the bill came. From the outside it doesn't look like much but don't let that fool you, it's very nice inside. We were greeted right away and it wasn't busy so we were sitting at a table right away. Our server/servers were very nice and friendly, and asked if we had any questions about their menu. I ordered the yellowfin sashimi and salmon sashimi, Mexican roll, scallop roll, and a specialty roll called Pimp Daddy, and a side salad with ginger dressing. First the salad was very fresh iceberg lettuce with cucumber slices and shredded beets and carrots with a great ginger dressing for only $3. The sashimi was also very fresh tasting with very nice portions for $5 each. The Mexican roll was your standard type roll but very good and the salmon roll was equally tasty. The special roll was very very good, with a nice presentation with tuna, avocado, eel, and 3 different types of roe on top. I cannot believe this place has been just a few miles from my house for all this time, I will become a regular customer before the year is over !

My expectation for sushi was low, and this place was a very pleasant surprise! We ordered : Shrimp udon Basil Duck Chicken satay Tuna roll California roll Stalker roll The udon was not what i expected, it smelt so delicious and the soup tasted so warming. Not too salty. My son , who is two, devoured the entire bowl by himself! The biggest surprise was the chicken satay. My family is from malaysia, so I know what real satay is. This was ... pretty close to flavor and the peanut sauce was actually really good (i dont usually like peanut sauce). My son, also ate a whole stixk of meat by himself. The basil duck was good flavor. Actual slice of duck meat fried, so the crunch with the sauce was just yummmmy! We enjoyed all the sushi, the tuna roll was pretty good! It was the first time i seen it in a triangle roll. The stalker roll was very good. To be honest i hate mayo usually because most places do it over kill style. This place was just right. The service was prompt and spot on. Lady was super nice! I would highly recommend!

This place does not look to appealing from the outside. Once I walked in I was actually quite surprised. The restaurant looked well taken care of, had a separate section if you wanted to sit traditional style on the floor, and greeted instantly by the hostess/server. It was a Sunday afternoon when my family decided to come in for some sushi. The place wasn't busy, but it wasn't dead either. That afternoon, we were a big party and it seemed like there was only one server on the floor. She seemed to handle the volume quite easily with us and all the other customers in the restaurant. Compliments to her! We ordered quite a few rolls, I don't remember all of the names, but the prices here are quite reasonable. The rolls were all delicious and tasted fresh, which is surprising for hybrid restaurants. We also ordered a few Thai dishes, all well prepared and properly seasoned. All the food came out quickly and hot. I enjoyed this place and will be coming back

One of the best sushi places I've ever been to. The service is friendly. The atmosphere is a mix between traditional and modern. Very clean place. It's easy to drive by and miss it because it's in a strip mall type of location near Carmelita's and a Lebanese restaurant. My fiancé and I went tonight. He got hot Jasmine tea and I got the Thai iced coffee and both were excellent and fairly priced. We started with an order of crab rangoon. It was the best crab Rangoon I've had before. It doesn't have that artificial taste like the kind you get at some Chinese restaurants. They also put a sauce on the side which is really good although I'm not sure what it's called. We decided to get a Mexican roll and a speciality roll called Pregnant Woman. The Pregnant Woman had fried grouper and other goodies. Sushi was superb. All ingredients were fresh and very tasty. They have several specialty rolls with clever names (see photos). For 2 rolls, 2 drinks, and the appetizer, our bill was less than $30. Very affordable for a sushi place. If you're into Thai, they also have an exclusive menu for that. Best sushi so far in Pinellas. We will definitely be back!

Our experience was absolutely perfect! Being celiac, it is hard to find an establishment able to accomodate my allergy. They went above and beyond. I finally was able to try sushi, and loved it. Their pad Thai was phenomenal. And the fried rice, wow. Just be cautious of the spices, they will open those sinuses. We will be back very soon.

The service was outstanding, the rolls were fine. The break point was when we got to the sashimi. The salmon was actually good, but the tuna? When we lifted up the piece of tuna sashimi, the ice underneath it was pink. The fish has been dyed. We'll not return.

First time here after seeing it on Yelp. Nice place in a strip mall. Service is very good. We both started with the Sunomono salad. Very tasty. Gyoza was done just right. Crispy and full of flavor. We ordered two Mexican Rolls, Special Scallop Roll, Snow Crab Roll and Pregnant Woman Roll. Really like the Pregnant Woman. The others were decent but most tasted the same. We may come back and try some different items.

The sushi was great! Fresh of course. The service was prompt and friendly. There were only 2 parties in the place while I was there and was amazed it wasn't packed because of how good it is! The Party Pooper roll was bomb New favorite sushi place for Seminole area. Definitely give this place a chance!

Some of the absolute best sushi in the Tampa/St Pete area. The rolls, beyond having hilarious names are delectable. Nigiri is substantial, tasty, and fantastic cuts. Coming from Seattle I guess we're sushi 'snobs', but this place rocks!

Probably tried 10 sushi restaurants in the area, this is without a doubt the best so far. Yes, the location is maybe a little unfamiliar, but some of the worst sushi I have had in my life was in prime locations downtown. That being said, don't discredit this location or their ability to deliver awesome food. The first thing I noticed was how organized and clean the sushi bar was. The fish was all individually wrapped very neatly and it all looked fresh, and smelled like nothing (a good thing). We ordered seaweed salad, Hamachi Nigiri, Escolar Nigiri, and three rolls. The nigiri was unbelievable. Freshest I've had anywhere in the country honestly. What pleased me the most was the rice. Perfectly seasoned, pressed and warm, around 100 degrees (body temperature is ideal). These guys know good food and service, I will have trouble going anywhere else from now on. Well done.

Vegetable Massaman Curry Hot - 4.75 I like mine a tad thicker, but wow it was amazing. I'll sacrifice for sure. Definitely coming back. Vegetable Tempura - 5.0 Server was nice and fast. Didn't linger. Atmosphere was a delight. Don't drive by. Stop. You'll be glad you did.

We visited from Orlando and found this place on Yelp. Very unique selection of sushi, fresh and well presented. The waitress Menilack was friendly and attentive. Try the Cougar roll!!!

Slow service and they weren't even busy. The fried shrimp in the sushi may have been leftover or just super coated and fried - didn't seem fresh. Rolls were small too. Better options out there!

So this is my second visit to this restaurant and I literally have nothing bad to say...they are so accommodating and prepare your rolls to your liking. I am also on a low carb diet and the waitress helped me plan my meal with veggies and no rice or noodles..also I only use rice paper which they substitute for a $1, which is very worth it to me. It is nice and quiet and kept very clean Don't let the strip mall fool you, this place rocks and I will be back many times!

The fact that this amazing sushi place is 2 minutes from my house deserves 5 stars alone! Don't discredit the location. Inside is a cute ambiance complete with a sushi bar and section to dine on the floor, traditional style. Ordered sushi to go so I can't speak for the waitstaff but the waitress (I'm assuming part owner) was very attentive and helpful. She offered water while I waited and was accommodating on my order (rice less sushi). I got one traditional roll (I think CAli) and one specialty. They were both super fresh. The only drawback was that the toppings on my specialty roll had a stronger mayo taste, which overpowered the other flavored. Def will be back for more! P.s they have specials for lunch. I think on Wednesdays (call to check) it's buy 3 rolls get one free.

I used to like this place a lot ...but then I got some bad tasting fish, being a avid fisherman I could taste old fish a mile away. Next visit they are burning incense like a hippie smoke shop, I mentioned it to the waitress and they shrugged it off like I was the one with the problem. Unable to handle the smell I had to leave...returned 3 different times to encounter the incense again, maybe their trying to cover something up. To top this off they charge for Sriracha sauce that's like Mc Donalds charging for ketchup I now go to Sushi Wave the best in town

Had the shrimp tempura, sashimi plate and yum yum soup. All was really good. Was seated immediately and our drinks were always refilled quickly. The people were really friendly and answered any questions we had easily.

I was on vacation with my family and we came here due to the reviews. We were NOT lead astray. We ordered two rolls, the "Cry Baby" and the "Crazy", and Pad Thai with scallops. Both rolls and the Pad Thai were exquisite. The rolls had a well balanced sweet and savory flavor. The Pad Thai had plenty of sauce and a slightly grilled flavor to it (well-seasoned woks accomplish this). The wait staff was attentive and we did not lack for anything. The atmosphere is laid back and I would say the amenities are family friendly. Great experience.

Overall a great experience. We had Spring Roll and Chicken Satay appetizers, seven sushi choices, and Mackeral Sashimi. All food was well presented and delicious. Two larger Spring Rolls each cut in half would have been better than the four smaller ones so we would get more filling and less wrapping. Service was excellent... very attentive servers. The Wednesday special was four sushi items for price of three... a pleasant, unexpected bonus. Banana Bubble Tea and Plum Wine were very good though would have preferred the Plum Wine be less sweet. The Fried Banana dessert was crispy and scrumptious. Our food arrived quickly, but we were there early before the evening crowd arrived. When we left around 6:30pm a good crowd had arrived. The prices were very reasonable. Four of us had a nice meal for well under $100 including tax and a generous tip. We definitely will return to Rain Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar.

Best Pad Thai I've maybe EVER had! The sauce is lighter and at first you are skeptical it will taste good, but it was AMAZING! The sushi is also excellent. I recommend the Ex Boyfriend Roll and the Pregnant Woman. I was not disappointed!!! Great great spot!

Rain is a great spot for sushi! I have been here a few times with groups of 8-12 and they are always very willing to accommodate us. They have a very large menu of sushi and other Japanese/Thai dishes. This is the type of place where it always takes me a lot of time to decide what I want because it all sounds so good. The sushi is very fresh. Be sure to check the special roll listed on the white board by the sushi chef. I tried the special tonight and it was really good. PS - This is in the same plaza as Carmelita's but I have never had a problem finding parking.

We were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is in a strip center and doesn't look like much from the outside. Don't be fooled the inside is very nice and much larger than it appears from the outside. My husband, son, and myself ordered 6 sushi rolls. We were very happy with the sushi and the price. It is also a bonus that it is close to home. We will be returning!
